One of the things I love about my 35mm camera, compared to most digital cameras (including mine) is the selective focus that comes with the larger focal plane. This photo, taken on the water from a kayak, is a great example of stark simplicity achieved by placing your subject in an abstract sea of soft color.
I took this photo while I was on a quest for textures. I set out to photograph natural textures on leaves, flowers, in the sand, etc. While I was studying leaves, I happened across this composition. Although I got lots of great textures, this was my favorite photograph out of about 30.
